Understanding what you can do with two way radios

Radio gives you lots of alternative ways to communicate.

Connect with people

Primary use of two way radios is to connect people so that they can talk to each other. These two-way radios connect people together when they talk business, participate in recreational activities, or need to communicate in emergencies.

People on the go, whether they’re just roaming around a mall or driving through the Alps Mountains, may find that a two way radio does a better job at facilitating communication at much lower cost than popular devices such as mobile phones and internet.

Emergency

Radio proves really useful when other means of communications are down (mobile phones and Internet systems). This lack of service can last for many hours or even days during disasters. In times such emergencies like earthquake, tornado or hurricane, having a radio can literally be a lifesaver.

If you’re stuck on the road between cell towers, a Citizens Band (CB) radio is nice to have if you need to call for help. Marine radio, Citizens Band, amateur (or ham) radio are the services that have designated channels or common frequencies where help can be available just at a push of button.

Fun

Keeping an ear on the local public safety action is the most popular use of a special radio receiver, commonly known as a scanner. Scanning the airwaves has become quite popular. You can follow the activities of your local public safety agencies, monitor business users, and listen in at sporting events just by punching a few buttons.

Even when you’re not transmitting yourself, you can have hours of enjoyment just listening to the public safety services around town with a scanner or pulling in the morning news from halfway around the globe on a shortwave radio.
Auto racing fans use scanners to listen in to their favorite drivers talk with their pit crews. Hikers, campers, and recreational vehicle (RV) users often use radios to keep in touch with others and as safety aids. Hang gliders and hot air balloonists can often be heard coordinating their flights with handheld radios.

Special note: After passing the required test and receiving FCC license, ham radios can be used for various activities including public service, and even operating radios in foreign countries.

Work

When you begin using radios for business, you must abide by certain rules regarding which radios and channels are available.
Public safety and service workers, such as fire and police officers, pilots, paramedics, and transportation and wildlife officers, all make use of radio on a daily basis. Pilots, air-traffic controllersBusiness Management Articles, and airport managers all engage in an intricate choreography that ensures our safety in the air and on the ground.

Two-way radios, just like standard radios, receive radio waves (RW) over the air. Radios convert RW into sound. The defining characteristic of a 2WR, however, is the ability to also convert sound back into RW for transmission to another radio-receiver. A 2WR can transmit and at the same time can receive a radio signal. It uses to different radio frequencies to carry the two directions of the conversation simultaneously.

The antenna in a 2WR contains a set of electrons. When a radio transmission is received, the RW excite the electrons and cause them to produce electrical impulses. For transmission, the radio's processor notes sound vibrations created by speaker's voice, it converts them into an electronic signal which is then ready for transmission to the radio transmitter. When the modulated frequency is sent to the antenna and the proper electrons are excited, outgoing RW are generated; these RW can then be picked up by other radios within a small area determined by such factors as the size of the antenna, the battery power of the radio, and atmospheric conditions.

Some of today's radios also allow scanning. Scanning is the process where several channels can be checked to see if anyone is transmitting on any of the scanned frequencies. When the scanning process detects that a channel is receiving a transmission with the same P.L. tone or Private line tone (In P.L. Mode, the radio's speaker will activate only if another radio is transmitting on the same P.L. Tone.) the radio will stop scanning, lock on that active channel and open up the speaker.

Most modern 2WR allow use of multiple channels. To broadcast on different channels, the transmitter of the radio must be able to generate RW in several different frequencies, with very minute fluctuations in each available frequency.

It remains so in-demand because even in the face of mobile phones and laptops, people still realize the great ease and accessibility of instant communication with a group of people. This defeats pushing in several phone numbers and waiting for everyone to either answer or not accept the call.

Whether it is for home, work, or play; everyone and their grandmother will be happy if they were to find their new 2WR waiting. No matter what reason you or your family and friends have to communicate with one anotherScience Articles, you will find that a 2WR is the best option available. They come in handy in a wide variety of situations and their ease can never be replaced even by the more popular communication tools of today.

Benefits and Uses of Two Way Radios

Two way radios came into existence centuries ago but till today they are of great service for many industrial and personal purposes.

Communications is an integral part of modern life, and the number of electronic communication gadgets that are available to us today is staggering. The use of two way radios is one of the earliest forms of communication that is still prevalent today.

Two-way radios send and receive information using a receiver and transmitter. The transmitter turns sound into electrical signals, amplifies the sound and then sends it over radio waves. Operators can communicate with two-way radios over short distances.

Two way radios are simple ways of staying connected wirelessly. Though they cover only a limited area, the cost-effective quality of the radios keeps them far above the other means of communication. Two way radios do not rely on anything external like cell towers or network service providers to provide communications between radio units. They are used as a stand-alone system that can be used anywhere.

While the device is in use there it is not necessary to restrict to the cord. The best part is that there is no bill to be paid monthly. This means that you will not need to pay any network provider for the time you talk on the radio. Once you a buy a set, it will keep on giving you service.

There are many beneficial uses in two way radios. These devices were used mostly by military and the law enforcement personnel. But in recent days they are even used by many consumers for their daily uses. In following areas two way radios are of great use.

Emergencies: During an emergency survival situation, the power may be out, or we might not be located near enough to a cell phone tower to get signal. Having a pair of 2-way radios is an excellent survival preparedness measure that will serve you during an emergency, and will provide you countless uses during normal times.

Entertainment: The RC helicopters are otherwise called as the Remote control helicopter. It is very fun flying the RC helicopter. Plying with the RC helicopter is also a hobby for many. It is not only kids love playing with these RC helicoptersScience Articles, even elders is more interested in playing with these helicopters and they enjoy more.

Recreational activities: Two way radios are the best bet for recreational activities. They can be used in following scenarios.
Road trips – where two cars are traveling together
Camping – keeping in contact while others are out and about
Boating – staying in touch with your group on the shore
Hiking – emergency communication if you get separated

Military purposes – Military organizations make use of this device even up to now.

Commercial purposes – These radios are widely used by radio operators in radio stations. These are used for listening to different channels and for data transmission.
